Another cocktail for the books! This one was delicious.  If you love tequila or just like to enjoy a margarita every once in a while you should try this drink out! It tastes like a wonderful juice with a slight kick to it (thank you tequila and jalapeño simple syrup!).  I could have drank these all night.  Plus oh man, they would have really complimented a giant bowl of guacamole. yum. BURNING LOVE - makes 1 serving

1 oz silver tequila - if you are local get yours at Cellar Wine & Spirits (!!!)

1/2 oz mango orange juice - we used Simply's version of this

3/4 oz jalapeño simple syrup

3 oz of sparkling water - we used club soda for this


coarse salt (for salting the rim)

lime juice (for salting the rim) -could use the mango orange juice

jalapeños or mangos - for garnish


making the SIMPLE SYRUP

1  cup of sugar

1/2 cup of water

1-2 jalapeños (sliced with the seeds and ribs left in)

-Bring all the ingredients to a boil. Let cool. Strain the jalapeños out using a fine mesh sieve. Refrigerate. This should stay in your fridge for up to a month.  And it is good, would be good in a million different cocktails!!  I will say that ours didn't turn out too terribly spicy so if you want some heat you could use more jalapeños.

-Side note: we made our simple syrup extra sweet so we didn't have to make as much of it (we were making for 300 drinks) but if you want your margarita less sweet you could do 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c of water, 1-2 jalapeños. Or if want to use less sugar but want the sweetness you could use the 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 c water ratio and just use more of it.

-Making simple syrup is waaayyyyyyy easier than it sounds (unless you let your pot boil over and spill it everywhere like I did).  Don't let a simple syrup scare you away from making any cocktail.  They usually take the drink to the next level, are actually super easy to make, and always worth the few minutes it takes to watch water boil. ha.




Dip the rim of your cup in lime juice and then salt.

Fill glass with ice.

Add tequila, simple syrup, juice.

Top with sparkling water.

Stir with bar spoon.

Add garnish of choice.
