MULLED WINE

It's been so chilly lately, we decided to warm it up for January's 2nd Friday Art Walk. In preparation for Valentine's Day, we set up our Community Heart Installation and served up something sweet-- Mulled Wine. You'll want to snag this recipe for snuggling on the couch and staying in for the rest of this winter season. Best part? This recipe is Vegan AND Gluten free - good for all!

THE STAPLES:

1 Apple (thinly sliced)

1 Orange (wedged)

1/4 cup white sugar

3 Cinnamon sticks

12 Cloves (whole)

6 Juniper berries

12 pinches Nutmeg

3 Star anise

2 bottles (750ml) Red wine (we used boxed Merlot!)

Serves: 12

THE STEPS:

1) Add wine, cinnamon, cloves, juniper berries, star anise, sugar and apple slices to your pressure cooker (we used an Instapot).

2) Close the lid and set the valve to pressure cooking position. Cook for 1 minute at high pressure.

3) When time is up, open the pressure cooker with the Normal release - release pressure through valve.

4) Mix the contents, garnish with nutmeg and orange wedges (optional) and serve it up!
